Changes on the horizon at the Care Center!
New Visiting Guidelines
CMS has just released new guidelines for visitation parameters in nursing homes. Now we are just waiting for the approval of our State Health officer to say ok to these new guidelines before we can offer indoor visiting. We are eager to share with you all what indoor visitation will look like in the facility as soon as we are clear on the rules. In the meantime, we are continuing with the outdoor visitation by appointment on the patio. We have some lovely new patio heaters and soon a wind block/golf ball guard to keep it a little more protected and cozy out there.
We are cherishing this beautiful weather as long as possible. This last week on two different days, our activities department arranged for musicians to come and play outside for our residents in the grass. Many folks really seemed to enjoy this live entertainment outside.
Beauty is Back!
Our new beauty operator, Jolene, has been a wonderful new addition. She seems to be learning quickly how things work around here. The resident’s really enjoy her and she does a great job on their hair. She is a go-getter and we are very happy she is here.
On a Personal Note...
Next, I wanted to share some personal news. With a heavy heart, I turned in my letter of resignation last week. I have truly enjoyed serving here as the social worker over these past ten years. This job has been very rewarding and I will take with me so many treasured memories of the residents. My plan is to remain at the Care Center until a new social worker is recruited. I hope to have the opportunity to train my replacement to ensure a smooth transition for everyone. For this reason, I have not yet shared this news with our residents. I want to avoid more stress and uncertainties for them. Once a new social worker is hired, I will explain the circumstances to them all then. There has been interest in the position from very qualified individuals. We will start interviewing next month. I will greatly miss those of you I have gotten to know through this job. No worries, everyone will be in good hands when it is my time to leave.
