All of the Care Center residents recently finished a 14 day quarantine in their rooms after a CNA had a positive COVID result found from our weekly proactive testing. Thankfully none of the residents contracted the virus from this staff member. Currently the residents are out of isolation and able to leave their rooms for some modified group activities, meals with a socially distanced tablemate and can now use the exercise room. The quarantine periods are hard, emotionally and physically on most of our population and we want to avoid isolating the residents as much as possible. However, in the event of a future positive test result from a direct caregiver, we will have to go back to having them in their rooms again for another 14 day period to ensure the virus has not spread.

Family visitation is happening again and offered daily. During the week the visiting time slots are in the afternoons and early evenings. The weekend visit times are earlier in the day. Please call the facility (684-2122) ahead of time to make an appointment and check for an opening that works for you. Visitation is set up in the family room, with one resident and up to 2 guests. They are 20 minute visits now that they are indoors. If it is a nice day and you would like more time to visit. We can offer 1 hour visits outside on the back patio. Remember you will still need to be spaced apart and have a mask on. If you have an appointment, you can walk around to the back patio and an activities staff member can check you in at that door.

The new Social Worker for Amie Holt, Sam, will begin learning the ropes here in a couple weeks. She had a little delay in her start with us, but she will be here soon. I have been telling the residents about her and they are looking forward to meeting her. Sam will be bring her experience and  background in clinical counseling. Her passion for people will be a great addition to our team. Especially during these challenging times and with the increased need to have someone to talk to, I know she will be a huge benefit for these folks. I will make sure you all have her contact information and know how to reach her after she officially joins us.

We hope you all are staying healthy and safe out there. As you probably already know our community is facing a significant increase in COVID cases. Our hospital has an influx in COVID patients. This is the time we need to be as careful as possible to diligently wear masks and social distance as much as possible.

As always,

Rhiannon Fowler
