Boosters shown to increase protection against Omicron

According to data from South Africa and the United Kingdom, a COVID vaccine booster dose increases vaccine effectiveness against the Omicron variant to 75%, compared to 35% for those who have received two doses of an mRNA vaccine.

The reinfection risk of Omicron is five times higher than with Delta, and protection from a previous infection may be as low as 19%.

A COVID-19 vaccine decreases the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.

The Johnson County Healthcare Center strongly encourages COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 5 and older and boosters for everyone 16 and older.

Vaccination continues to be the best way to protect yourself and reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our communities.

The Family Medical Center continues to offer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters every Tuesday by appointment. Call 307-684-2228.
