Financial Assistance Policy Plain Language Summary

Johnson County Memorial Hospital, a not for profit critical access hospital, and the Family Medical Center, were established to serve the needs of the residents of Johnson County and surrounding areas.  The hospital and clinic are committed to providing medical services to patients regardless of their ability to pay.  Johnson County Memorial Hospital and the Family Medical Center recognize that not all patients have the financial resources to pay their hospital or clinic bills.  This Plain Language summary provides basic information about our policy.

 

JCHC Financial Assistance Policy Overview

 

The Financial Assistance Program offers emergency and other medically necessary services at low or no cost to qualified patients.  Whether patients are uninsured or underinsured, they can apply for financial assistance.  Our Financial Assistance staff will assist individuals in applying for eligible government health insurance programs and completing the financial assistance application, free of charge.  Upon approval, patients may receive the following assistance:

Patients who qualify cannot be charged more than the amount generally billed (AGB).

Patients/guarantors may apply for financial assistance at any time up to one hundred twenty (120) days after the first post-discharge billing statement is available.

 

Important:

The following charges are not covered under our Financial Assistance Policy:

Out of Network Copays.   Coinsurance and Deductibles are not eligible for Financial Assistance

Account balances that are currently in collections.
