Get to know Dr. Ruby

Dr. Blaine Ruby is the practicing general surgeon at the Johnson County Healthcare Center. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1991. He knew he wanted to come back and live in the community. After completing medical school and his residency, he made the trek back to Wyoming.

We sat down with Dr. Ruby to learn a little more about him.

Why did you decide to do what you are doing now?
I had experience in the operating room in medical school, and I discovered that’s where my talents were.

How many years of school did you go to?
15 years of school

Where did you complete your residency?
I did my residency in Wisconsin, at a place called Gundersen Lutheran. I was really fortunate academically when I was at the University of Washington. I graduated with honors, and I was blessed to be able to go where I wanted. Gundersen Lutheran was one of the top surgical residencies in the country.

How long have you been practicing?
I’ve been a surgeon for 15 years.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with people, and I enjoy doing the procedures. I’m very problem focused.
