Dr. Erica Rinker joined the Johnson County Healthcare Center in March 2021. She worked as a family practice physician for four years at Campbell County Health in Gillette before joining our team. Prior to that, Dr. Rinker was a family practice physician at a private family practice.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her residency at Iowa Lutheran Family Practice Residency in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dr. Rinker graduated from high school in Columbus, Montana, a town of about 1,200. Her family homesteaded in northeastern Montana, near Fort Peck Lake. Dr. Rinker grew up in a small town and always knew she wanted to serve a small community.
“I enjoy medicine and science, but also value relationships with patients and their families,” Dr. Rinker said. “In the emergency room, those relationships can be intense given the nature of the emergency room, and I am honored to get to help people with the team of nurses and emergency room staff during what can be a scary and unsettling time.”
Dr. Rinker said family practice as a specialty enabled her to live and work in a small town. She enjoys most aspects of medicine, so it was difficult for her to choose one area of medicine for the rest of her life.
“Having to know a little about a lot of things is challenging, and I get to learn something new every day being in family practice medicine,” she said.
Dr. Rinker enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, boating, fishing, camping, sewing, eating out and watching movies.
Dr. Rinker works in the Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Emergency Room.
