Week 14 blog from Amie Holt

It has been a literal ZOO around here!

Literally, yesterday was farm animal day. Our activities department coordinated some awesome outdoor entertainment that included a variety of critters stopping by for a visit. It was a delight to see the residents so happy and making positive statements about how lucky they were to pet a pig and to hold a goat. They took lots of cute pictures capturing the fun.

Visiting Begins with Families!

Our big news for the week is that we can begin to offer some visitation of Amie Holt residents!

Of course, there are some restrictions.

So, here is what you need to know:

Visits are by appointment.

Visits will be at pre-determined times and by appointment only. You must call ahead to set up your visit with your loved one. Charlotte will schedule this. You can call her directly at 684-6161 M-F, and leave a voicemail. If you cannot reach her and need to make changes to your visit time, please call the main number at 684-2122 to speak with the nurse.

Visits are outdoors

The visit will take place outdoors on the back patio (weather permitting). We have marked off areas that will seat you 6 feet apart. There is a limit of 4 residents outside at a time. Each resident can have 2 guests come to see them for up to 1 hour at a time.

Some families have brought a dry erase board to write on to aid in communication if you are coming to see someone who is hard of hearing.

Check in first, and bring a mask

When you arrive at your scheduled time, please check in with us at the front entrance of the facility. There will be a questionnaire to complete, your temperature will be checked and then you will perform hand hygiene. We ask that you bring your own face covering. We will provide the mask for the resident. Both parties will wear a mask during the visit and practice social distancing. If a resident cannot tolerate a mask due to medical reasons, a face shield may be utilized (we have some).

Staff nearby to help

A staff member is required to supervise the visiting area to ensure infection control measures are being followed, but the intention is not for anyone to listen to your conversations. Then after visitation, staff are required to sanitize the outdoor furniture.

If a resident is currently on isolation or quarantine they will not be eligible to have visitors.

General Appointment Times

This is subject to change but a general idea of the times to make an appointment are:

Saturday              9:30-10:30am, 10:30-11:30am

Sunday                 10:30-11:30am, 12:45-1:45pm

Monday               2:30-3:30pm, 3:30-4:30pm, 5:45-6:45pm

Tuesday               2:30-3:30pm, 3:30-4:30pm, 5:45-6:45pm

Wednesday        2:30-3:30pm, 3:30-4:30pm, 5:45-6:45pm

Thursday             2:30-3:30pm, 3:30-4:30pm

Friday                    2:30-3:30pm, 3:30-4:30pm

We are Virus Free!

At this time we are still virus free in the Care Center and we are doing everything in our power to keep it that way. We have not been able to start our mass testing of residents and staff yet. Please understand if we do identify a positive case this could change our ability to offer outdoor visitation. Also if there is a surge in positive cases in the community this could also impact our visitation.

Prayers for good weather (at a minimum during our visiting hours),

Have a great week!
