About Melissa Shafer earned her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Muskingum University and holds a certification in Perinatal Health. She provides therapy services across outpatient, inpatient, and long-term care settings, helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Melissa has advanced training in women’s health and pelvic floor therapy. She provides comprehensive care for women in all stages of life, addressing concerns such as pelvic pain, incontinence, core and pelvic floor dysfunction, and functional changes related to hormonal transitions, pregnancy, and recovery. At JCHC, she established therapy services for new mothers prior to discharging home, ensuring women have access to early and personalized care after delivery. Alongside this specialty, she also enjoys working with pediatric, neurological, and orthopedic populations, supporting patients of all ages and needs.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, and following Husker Volleyball.
