About A Sheridan native, Dr. Tom Richards brings more than 30 years of medical experience to the Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Emergency Department, where he serves as one of two full-time physicians. After graduating from Sheridan High School, Dr. Richards attended the University of Wyoming before earning both his Medical Doctorate (M.D.) and a Master’s degree in Medical Informatics from the University of Utah. He went on to complete his Family Medicine residency through the UCLA program at Ventura County Medical Center. Dr. Richards is known for his steady, compassionate care and deep commitment to the community he serves. He takes pride in helping patients through some of their most critical and vulnerable moments, bringing both skill and empathy to every encounter. Outside the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer—also a Sheridan native—as well as friends and family. His roots in Wyoming run deep, and he values the opportunity to provide care in the region he has always called home.
